When my husband told me he wanted to switch from National Guard to Active Duty, I was nervous as to what that’d mean since I’d never left the area where my family lived and I knew from my dad serving as a Marine (before I was born) that moving around was part of the job. But when we got to our first duty station I met the most amazing people through church and through the awkward “i need friends” Facebook post. Some of the people we met are friends we want to stay in contact with as best we can through the military life and others have become more like family than we ever thought possible. Some have made the idea of moving away very sad but technology is great and we plan on keeping in touch, and if the army ever does its thing and we happen to be back on the same installation it’ll be a much appreciated reunion.
